Next Game Night

Fall 2020 'Celebration' Edition at Parker Dam!

This event is now official. Pavilion 3 has been rented for this event. green nikki and mrGreen317 will be there, so come out and join us!

Outside group meetings of 250 or less are still currently not 'forbidden' in Pennsylvania. However, some cachers may not be ready to meet in person, or unable or unwilling yet to travel larger distances. We certainly understand this, and we hope to see you at a future event soon.

Each in-person guest may practice their preferred distancing habits. With an outdoor, autumn space and event, there should be more than enough room to accomodate. Bring your own food and drinks if that is more comfortable, or feel free to take the common pot luck food that is made available.

The state park is requiring masks inside any enclosed buildings. (This likely includes the restrooms.) Other mask use is encouraged by the state if not keeping certain distances, but each attendee may practice this in whatever manner is personally most comfortable. Recommendations may also change in time as the event approaches.

1:00 PM to 6:00 PM

Fall pot luck, games, prizes, and most importantly... geo-friends!

I'll take Fun Times at Parker Dam for $200, mrGreen... Answer: A game that challenges your geocaching, geography, and geologic knowledge while being surrounded by your freinds in the geocaching community. What is Geo-Jeopardy?

That's right! The Game Night event series by Two "greens" travels north of I-80 this year for some Fall-time fun!

Planned schedule:

Before 1:00 pm: The pavilion is rented all day; setup will be ongoing at GZ as soon as the hosts are able to arrive, sometime between 9am and 10am; enjoy the offerings of the state park if you arrive before the official start time. You might even want to track down some area geocaches if desired.

1:00 PM: Event kick off; meet and greet

1:30 PM: Food, friends, and geo-conversation

3:00 PM: Geo-Jeopardy - Four contestants will battle each other giving the questions that match the stated answers in two rounds (Geo-Jeopardy and Double Geo-Jeopardy) to earn the most geo-cache-points and be declared the winner! We intend to have our buzzers, video question boards, and maybe even theme music to provide a realistic Geo-Jeopardy experience. We might employ a play-in round (depending on player interest), which will allow us to narrow down from all interested participants to the four contestants playing the main game rounds.

4:15 PM: Intermission (Game reset)

4:30 PM: Wheel of Geocaching! That's right... "America's favorite game" has been adapted and is coming back to Game Night (having been last seen in its full form at the Summer 2019 event). We anticipate three to four participants playing head-to head against a four-puzzle TV show format of the game. The winner of which will get a final puzzle to play for an additional prize selected from the prize wheel. (A play-in round or other contestant selection process may be employed to pick the three to four contestants playing the main game rounds.)

5:30 PM: Any final prize giveaways and drawings, potentially with trivia...

6:00 PM: Event conclusion and final event geo-conversation... Thanks to everyone for joining us!

Keep watching this page for any potential changes or addtions to the event schedule.

Each in-person guest may practice their preferred distancing habits. With an outdoor space and event, there should be more than enough room to accommodate everyone. Bring your own food and drinks if that is more comfortable, or feel free to take the common pot luck food that is made available.

The state park is requiring masks inside any enclosed buildings. (This includes the restrooms.) Other mask use is encouraged by the state if not keeping certain distances; attendees should practice those habits which most protect themselves and are personally most comfortable. Recommendations may also change in time as the event approaches.

Soft drinks, bottled water, and individually-wrapped snack foods should be present. Attendees may bring their own personal food items (if that is more comfortable) or share with the common food. If you do wish to bring food to share, there will be a table to place those items so other attendees know which is the shared food. If you are planning to share a food dish, posting the name/type of food in your "Will Attend" might be helpful to avoid a lot of duplication.
